As the Senior Director, Technical Accounting, you will review and evaluate technical accounting matters including leases, revenue recognition, derivatives and hedging, segment reporting, goodwill impairment, acquisitions and divestitures, stock-based compensation, and debt refinancing. What you'll do on a typical day:

  • Research and analyze technical accounting issues, assess impact to organization, and document conclusions; collaborate with external auditors
  • Assist in the preparation of 10-k and 10-Q filings (e.g., new accounting pronouncements and pro forma financial information)
  • Develop accounting policy manual and work with local accounting teams to resolve technical accounting matters
  • Prepare and review board presentations
  • Manage the accounting and internal controls for assigned processes
  • Perform Sarbanes-Oxley control reviews; partner with external auditors to satisfy any requirements that arise
  • Maintain expertise and keep informed of developments and trends as they relate to the financial technical accounting used at XPO Logistics; monitor and contribute to the organization's competitive edge by developing and executing best-in-class accounting strategiesWhat you need to succeed at XPO:At a minimum, you'll need:
    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent related work or military experience
    • 7 years of experience in a relevant field, including expertise in generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and financial reporting; advanced technical accounting skills
    • CPA certification
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); ability to create complex formulas in MS Excel
    • Availability to work a flexible schedule including planned and unplanned overtime, which may include weekends; occasional travelIt'd be great if you also have:
      • Master's degree in Finance or Accounting or MBA
      • 10+ years of experience in transportation/logistics/supply chain or public accounting
      • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to present clean, organized, and thorough information and data appropriate for intended audience
      • Self-motivated and able to work well with minimal supervision or in a team environment; consult with team members and management as needed
      • Ability to utilize a variety of interpersonal styles and communication methods to effectively adapt to new work structures, processes, or cultures
      • Strong attention to detail and follow-up skills with ability to identify and resolve problems
      • Ability to perform complex analysis of data, processes, policies, procedures and/or systems; produce unambiguous, comprehensive and accurate interpretationsBe part of something big.
