Impact!The Project Cost Accountant responsibilities include working
closely with internal and external stakeholders to perform complex
accounting assignments while tracking project related costs and
assisting in the preparation of financial records. This position
requires work performed in a dynamic, diverse, and fast-paced team
environment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Verifies new subcontractor payment information based on company
protocols and submits to home office for final verification.
- Set up contact file and new jobs in accounting and project
management systems.
- Sync job cost and budget updates into CMIC and excel
reporting.
- Review and process accounting and project-related records,
including contracts, purchase orders, and change orders in CMIC.
Submits to Project Managers for processing.
- Assist project management team to compile required information
to invoice customers including requesting information and invoices
from subcontractors.
- Prepare, review, and issue accurate client invoices in
accordance with the contractual obligations.
- Assist in the entering of A/P & A/R transactions as
assigned.
- Monitor project budgets, track billable hours and expenses, and
ensure proper project costing.
- Assist in preparation of weekly payment submissions and
subcontractor compliance for payment releases.
- Create and maintain spreadsheets utilized by the accounting
team for project costs, revenue forecasting and project
completion.
- Assist in preparation and submission of SOV and payment
requisitions as needed.
- Provide regular project financial status reports, including
actual vs. budget analysis for each project as assigned.
- Reconcile project accounts and resolve discrepancies related to
project billing and expenses as assigned.
- Maintain project-related records, contracts, and documentation,
ensuring compliance with company policies and client
agreements.
- Assist with the preparation of financial statements and audits
related to project financials.
- Assist in preparation of financial performance, variables
analysis and cost allocation reports for senior management.
- Assist in preparation of project cash flow and forecast reports
to meet project budget milestones and track expenditures.
- Coordinate with project managers to ensure billing milestones
and deadlines are met.
- Collaborate with accounting, operations and administrative
teams to gather pertinent project related information.
- Works with sensitive information with discretion to maintain
confidentiality and security and ensure compliance with privacy
policies and regulations.
- Cross train with other Accounting Team functions providing
backup, as necessary.
- Other duties as assigned as needed.Position Requirements:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Exceptional organizational, time management skills and
attention to detail.
- Strong ability to multi-task and prioritize assigned tasks to
meet tight deadlines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- General working knowledge of CMIC and/or construction
accounting experience preferred.
- Ability to work independently and in a team.Education and
Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related
field.
- Minimum 3 - 5 years of experience in project accounting, with a
focus on billing and invoicing, preferably within the construction
industry.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Strong understanding of GAAP, IFRS and project accounting
principles.
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and the
ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective
client and team collaboration.
- Working knowledge of City/State/federal funded projects and
compliance reporting.
- Familiarity with compliance requirements and regulatory
standards in the construction industry.Physical Demands:
- Use of manual dexterity, tactile, visual, and audio
acuity.
- Use of repetitive motion, prolonged periods of sitting and
standing, and sustained visual and mental applications and
demands.
