7th Grade Math DescriptionThe philosophy of Brunswick Middle School's mathematics department is, "There's a reason, not a rule!" Brunswick seeks a talented mathematics educator who believes in this philosophy and who understands the need to teach students the "why" behind the algorithmic processes. In joining our 7th grade team, the incoming teacher will teach 4 (if a coach) or 5 sections of regular level algebra 1. Specifically, Brunswick seeks a candidate who meets the following criteria:-- Strong, comprehensive knowledge base in mathematics and best practices in mathematics instruction-- Expertise differentiating instruction to meet a wide variety of capabilities within the classroom-- Belief that ALL students are capable of learning mathematics-- Experience in making the mathematics curriculum relevant to the "real-world"-- Passion for middle school education generally, and single-gender education specifically-- Willingness to work collaboratively with other teachers at the same grade level to plan assessments, discuss curriculum and pacing, and share teaching strategies-- Expertise in TI-84 graphing calculators and their application in the classroom-- Excitement for advising a homeroom of boys-- Interest in contributing to clubs and activities outside of the classroom
