Recipients of the AORN Gold go-clear award. They have a robust unit practice council with engaged staff. They collaborate with the Surgical PA and surgeon team. The Greenwich Hospital Operating room nurse manager has 24/7 responsibility and oversight of the 9 OR's at the main campus and the 3 OR's at the Holly Hill ambulatory surgery center. He/ She reports directly to the Executive Director of Surgical Services. There is approximately 90 FTE's in this department. The nurse manager is accountable for financial management.Operating RoomThe Main Operating Room serves patients of all ages and is available twenty-four hours per day, seven days a week. Located on the second floor, the unit has 9 operating room suites. Highly skilled, board-certified surgeons with the help of specialty certified Nurses and technicians, perform a wide variety of surgical procedures in the fields GYN, General Surgery, ENT (ear/nose/throat) , Plastic Surgery, Urology , Vascular, Thoracic, Bariatric, Orthopaedic, and Neuro. Greenwich Hospital surgeons employ the most innovative techniques which vary from the open approach, to laparoscopic and minimally invasive procedures. We also perform DaVinci robotic procedures for urology and gynecology.We are committed to a patient centered philosophy with respect for the whole person, providing quality outcomes with team collaboration in a confidential, professional environment. The Multidisciplinary team collaborates to enable the patient to return to an optimal level of function, tending to the physical, psychosocial, cultural and spiritual needs.HASCThe Leona M. and Harry B. Helmsley Ambulatory Surgical Center is situated at 55 Holly Hill. Located on the third floor, the facility has a fully functioning Pre- Op and Post Op areas with 4 state of the art Operating Rooms suites where efficiency and quality care is the hallmark. HASC provides highly qualified board certified surgeons for same-day surgical procedures, including ophthalmology, oculoplastics, gynecological, plastic, pediatric, orthopedic and arthroscopic surgeries, all with full anesthesia coverage. HASC is staffed with highly trained RN's (ACLS and PALS) in the Pre Op/Post Op area and Operating Room. HASC provides highly skilled nursing care , assesses the patient as a whole and provides pre op/post op instructions to promote a positive surgical experience for the patient and family.EEO/AA/Disability/Veteran Responsibilities 1. Responsible for the activities of a nursing care unit. 1.1 Plans for the model of care to be utilized on the unit in delivering optimal and safe patient care, as well as meeting the Nursing Standards.1.1 Plans for the system of care to be utilized on the unit in delivering patient care and meeting the Nursing Standards.2. Facilitates the developments of nursing staff on the unit2.1 Identifies knowledge or practice deficits among the staff through direct observation. Works with the Education Department to provide unit based educational programs to meet these needs.3. Responsible for the quality of the staff's work and the management of the unit.3.1 Involves the nursing staff in developing and meeting yearly goals which are congruent with the hospital's mission statement and for improving the professional activities on the unit as evidenced by yearly submission of goals and bi-yearly evaluation of progress toward meeting goals.4. Responsible for the cost-effective management of the nursing unit. QualificationsEDUCATIONBSN required, MSN preferred. CNOR required, CSSM preferredEXPERIENCEFive (5) years experience on a hospital nursing unit Two (2) to three (3) years of management preferredLICENSURERN in State of ConnecticutSPECIAL SKILLSCQI/QA. Charge responsibilities, shared governance, yearly competencies, mandatory in-services. Serves as a resource person in the scope of medical/surgical nursing. These include interaction with patient centered care team, patients and families and the YNHH System. Professionalism with staff and other hospital personnel. Moderate stress from scheduling, meetings and deadlines.PHYSICAL DEMANDStanding, walking, frequently pushing, pulling, bending, reaching, stooping, squatting and working in awkward positions. Able to help lift objects and patients ranging from five (5) to three hundred (300) pounds. Moderate stress from coordinating and supervising unit staff. May be exposed to infectious diseases/blood/body fluids. Will be exposed to physical, mental and emotional illness as well as end of life conditions and death.
