They will manage a large, complex set of surgical services across the hospital, ambulatory sites and delivery networks where applicable.These services are within inpatient general surgery, perioperative services, SPD and the Surgical PA Program. The Executive Director will support and facilitate an inter-professional team and patient centered approach to the delivery of care. This role will foster Magnet standards of excellence be fostered by creating a nursing environment in which collaboration is valued and excellence in clinical care, education, and research is promoted and achieved. They will also lead the strategic development, clinical quality and financial results, directing all non-physician clinical services in the service lines. The ED is responsible for effective utilization of all financial, material, and human resources, ensuring appropriate patient flow management through the continuum of care, resulting in a high level of patient and employee engagement. They will serve as an integral member of the nursing leadership team to ensure the success of the nursing strategy of Greenwich Hospital and YNHHS. The ED is responsible for ensuring integration of Surgical Services with system objectives and strategies; ensuring the alignment of nursing practice and standards within both Surgical Services, SPD and the Surgical PA Program, in collaboration with local and system nursing professional governance, GH CNO and YNHHS CNE and service line leadership. They will foster an environment of patient care excellence and high reliability with ongoing evaluation of opportunities for improvement. This role will represent Surgical Services nursing on hospital and system committees. The individual in this role will collaborate to shape the service line, enhance a world-class model of a care signature, and promote a culture focused on patient and family centered care.EEO/AA/Disability/Veteran Responsibilities 1. STRATEGIC PLANNING, DEVELOPMENT AND IMPLEMENTATION1.1 Directs non-physician clinical programs in inpatient and ambulatory settings, assuring comparable standards of care throughout the continuum of care. Collaboratively defines models of nursing practice, determines nursing resources and education requirements and assures the highest quality standards for clinical practices across the services.2. VISION & STRATEGY2.1 Partners with the SVP/CNO and other senior managers to create, implement and manage the strategic direction and clinical growth plans for the service lines within GH and across YNHHS.3. MANAGEMENT3.1 Optimizes clinical program results by maintaining internal and external customer service focus; continuously enhance value through performance improvement initiatives and facilitate the identification and expeditious resolution of problems by exercising sound judgment.4. LEADERSHIP4.1 Serves as a visible leader, working closely with senior physician leaders, senior management and staff to assure continuous growth, coordination, and integration of clinical activities.5. PATIENT SATIFACTION5.1 Provides strategic leadership for patient engagement at GH. Ensures that all staff are held accountable for adhering to customer service excellence standards.6. QualificationsEDUCATIONRN with Master's Degree in Nursing, healthcare administration or closely related field required. Individual must possess a nursing degree at the bachelors or graduate level (BSN, MSN). DNP or PhD preferred.EXPERIENCEMinimum of 10 years of progressive experience in nursing leadership, along with significant acute care hospital operational responsibility within the community, teaching, and academic settings. Knowledge of Nursing and Healthcare environment. Successful experience with large facility development projects. Executive leadership experience at a complex facility with leading edge patient care, customer service and research. Demonstrates strategic agility by collaborating with diverse stakeholders at the organizational and system level to achieve outcomes. Experience creating and developing \"world class\" management teams. Demonstrated results and experience in transforming and growing an organization through strategic planning and effective implementation of workforce and operational strategies. Competitive health care marketplace experience. Experience in an ANCC magnet designated facility preferred.LICENSURECurrent RN license; Board Certification in Nursing Leadership. NEA-BC PreferredSPECIAL SKILLSDemonstrates expertise in competencies of Communication, Relationship Management, Leadership, Change Management, and Workforce Development. Strong leadership skills including demonstrated ability to collaboratively inspire and motivate individuals and groups while also being decisive and taking action on critical issues. Effective not only at recruiting top talent from outside the organization but also at developing the full professional potential of individuals within. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to be equally effective with both large and small audiences as well as one-on-one level, and to a wide range of constituencies.
