About the job The Vice President, Product Development & Design position is responsible for the creation of the Easy Spirit product lines and leading the design and technical development team. This position will report to the CEO and be based out of our Greenwich, CT Headquarters..
RESPONSIBILITIES:
In collaboration with key stakeholders and cross functional teams, leads the development of the product line from creating the design brief to final product, focusing on all classifications with particular emphasis on Athletic.
Supervises research on design, materials, and color trends.
Leads design and product development from inception/trends to final product.
Partners with Design Studio and Asia Production offices to create designs and prepare product for samples to market, to pre-production.
Ensures timely development of line by ensuring cross functional teams adhere to the time and action calendar.
Creates and manages department budget for sample and line plans.
Ensures that products meet the brand standards as well as consumer needs.
Presentation of line to management.
Manages and develops design and product development team.
Additional responsibilities as needed.
SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS
15+ years' experience in Product Line Management, Merchandising, Line Building, and/or Design in the footwear category
Proficiency in athletic shoe constructions and specifications
Prior experience working direct with factories a plus
Prior experience in managing a team and leading a footwear product related function
Excellent collaboration, time management, and interpersonal skills.
Prior knowledge of costing and shoemaking to develop cost efficient product
An inspirational leader who inspires and motivates teams
Bachelor's Degree in design strongly preferred
